The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wrench tries to score a power double leg takedown but Coleman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wrench somewhat. Wrench shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Coleman defends it nicely. Coleman shoots in and gets a takedown into Wrench's guard. Coleman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wrench has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coleman has managed to get both his arms back between Wrench's legs - danger averted. Wrench working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Coleman. Coleman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wrench is keeping the position for now. Coleman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wrench works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Wrench escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. That's one minute gone in the round. Wrench keeping moving, preventing Coleman from controlling successfully. Wrench avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Wrench has his foot on Coleman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Coleman works his way back into a safe position though. Wrench is looking for a triangle but Coleman pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Coleman lands a couple of decent looking shots. Wrench could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Coleman wants to control from the top but Wrench keeps moving. Wrench is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Coleman defends well. Coleman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Coleman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Wrench throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Wrench might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wrench is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Coleman is aware though and is defending well. Coleman postures up and lands a big shot to Wrench's brow.

Coleman is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Wrench.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman landing strikes. Wrench tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Coleman easily slips into full mount! Wrench wants to control but Coleman is having none of it. Wrench sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Coleman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wrench with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Wrench is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Coleman's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Coleman's back! Wrench is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Coleman has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Wrench has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Coleman taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Wrench doesn't care though - he's delighted!
