Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaori Masuyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kaori Masuyo!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Masuyo defends it well.

Johnson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Masuyo tries to kick Johnson off but Johnson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Johnson seems to be looking for submissions.
Johnson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Masuyo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Masuyo scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Johnson manages to mount him!

Johnson looking to secure an arm triangle but Masuyo defends it well.
Masuyo is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Masuyo is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Johnson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Masuyo is surviving well by controlling Johnson's body position as best he can.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Masuyo prevents Johnson from taking his back.

Johnson looking to secure an arm triangle but Masuyo defends it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Johnson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Masuyo reaches up to try and control the position but Johnson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Masuyo rolls and tries to escape and now Johnson has his back!
Masuyo turns into Johnson and is now in his guard.

Johnson has his foot on Masuyo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Masuyo works his way back into a safe position though.
Masuyo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Masuyo trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Masuyo won't allow Johnson to sweep him here.
Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Johnson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Masuyo wants to stand and escape but instead Johnson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Masuyo is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Johnson dives into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Johnson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Johnson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Johnson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Masuyo misses with a kick to the body
and Johnson counters with a two punch combo.
Masuyo throws a body kick the misses
and Johnson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Johnson blocks a head kick by Masuyo.
Masuyo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Johnson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Masuyo wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it.

Johnson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A shot to the body from Masuyo misses

and Johnson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Masuyo!

Johnson looking for a guillotine from mount but Masuyo is having none of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Masuyo wants to hold on but Johnson pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson moves to the back.

Masuyo fending off the submission attempt from Johnson.
Masuyo has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Johnson looking for the RNC.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Masuyo is trying to get back to his feet but Johnson has full control of the position and if anything, Masuyo has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Johnson is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Masuyo taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Johnson.
