Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Billy Burr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micky Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ward comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dropkick Murphys- The Warrior's Code kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward tries to sprawl but Burr drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Burr takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ward avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Burr.
Burr missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Ward on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Burr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Burr throwing shots but Ward is blocking nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ward is trying to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burr's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Billy Burr has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Ward thows a body shot but no joy.
Ward lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Billy Burr has been cut.
Burr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ward defends it nicely.
Ward connects with a right hand. Burr shakes it off.
Ward swats away the attempt to clinch by Burr.
Ward tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Burr counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ward won't be happy with that.

Burr stands up.
Burr stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ward.
Ward misses with a body shot.
Burr's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ward connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Burr scrambles back to his feet.
Burr is rocked!
Ward cracks Burr with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Burr tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Ward pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Burr is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Micky Ward!
