Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nannie Doss! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pacho Mendieta! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendieta rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Doss counters with a single leg into guard. Mendieta didn't expect that. Doss gets to his feet. Mendieta looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Doss's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mendieta connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Doss scrambles back to his feet. Mendieta misses with a head kick.
Mendieta tries to clinch and Doss counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Doss postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Mendieta to stand up. Doss circles away from the clinch attempt and Doss decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mendieta's guard. Mendieta wants to stand up but Doss is controlling him. Mendieta is working an open guard so Doss takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Mendieta darts in trying to clinch and Doss counters with a takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doss decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mendieta to his feet. Mendieta takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Doss missing with a left hand there. Mendieta was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Doss lands with a shot to the body. Mendieta looks gassed! Mendieta closes the distance looking to clinch and Doss cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Mendieta tries to clinch but Doss moves away and Mendieta takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Doss pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Doss smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Mendieta takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Doss lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Doss lands with an uppercut that bounces Mendieta off the cage and back into rage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Doss fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mendieta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Doss with a body punch. A glancing blow. Mendieta is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Pacho Mendieta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Doss dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Doss closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mendieta missing with knees to the body.
