PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Livo Makkai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emelianenko is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Last of the Mohicans. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko has a takedown stuffed.

Emelianenko gets caught flat footed, as Makkai shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Makkai wants the takedown. Emelianenko is fighting it off but Makkai persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Emelianenko's guard against the cage.

Makkai has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Livo Makkai.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Makkai here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
