Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith scores with a jab to the body. Liddell throws a leg kick but Smith checks it. Liddell swinging wildly here.
Liddell throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Liddell throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease. Smith with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Liddell throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Smith throws a nice inside leg kick. Smith takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. A lazy body kick from Smith and Liddell counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smith throws a right and a left that both miss. Smith misses with an attempted mid kick.
Liddell has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Smith.

and Smith counters with a good, hard body kick but Liddell shrugs it off. Liddell is breathing heavily. Liddell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Smith scores with a spinning back kick! Smith scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Liddell doesn't seem bothered though. Smith turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Liddell chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Smith can pounce on him.
Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Liddell swivels and escapes. Liddell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith. Some wild striking there from Smith.
Smith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Smith lets loose with a powerful body kick. Liddell will feel that in the morning. Chuck Liddell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Smith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Smith throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Liddell on the wrong end of a nice jab. Smith scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Smith lands a leg kick that knocks Liddell off balance momentarily. Nice jab there from Smith. Smith throws a body punch but Liddell moves out of range. Smith lands with a thumping leg kick.

Smith thumps Liddell with a low kick. Liddell moves forwards but Smith connects with a nice, crisp jab. Liddell swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Smith makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Liddell has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Smith. Liddell sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Smith lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Smith. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Liddell if he has to take too many more of those.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Liddell sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Smith connects with a nice looking jab.
Nice shot by Smith. Both fighters circling a little - Smith finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Smith lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Liddell backs up against the cage.
Smith bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Smith throws a nice outside leg kick. A kick lands to the mid section there for Smith. Smith is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Liddell had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. A thudding body kick lands there by Smith!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Smith lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Liddell stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Smith. Liddell sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Smith dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

He's obviously looking to slow Liddell down. Smith misses with a shot to the body and Liddell counters with a one-two to the body. Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smith scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Smith is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Liddell rather than just go for the knockout. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Smith looks to land a combination. Liddell sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Smith connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Smith scores with a shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith jabs at Liddell's body. Liddell walks into a jab. Liddell takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Liddell might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Smith lands a nice looking body kick. Smith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Smith fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith. Liddell throws a left and a right that both miss
and Smith counters with a lovely shot to the body. Good leg kick by Smith there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Smith throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Liddell stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Liddell will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. A shot to the body from Liddell misses and Smith counters with a one-two to the body. Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Liddell manages to avoid it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Liddell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Smith moves into range and connects with a jab. Chuck Liddell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith throws a head kick but Liddell moves out of range.

and Smith counters with a nice uppercut. Liddell dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Smith. That did some damage! Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Smith scores with a punch to the head. Smith misses with an attempted mid kick.
Smith lands with a nice body kick. Smith scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Liddell doesn't seem bothered though. Smith thows a body shot but no joy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Liddell misses with a double jab.

John Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Liddell throws a sloppy head kick and Smith counters with a solid body kick. Liddell ducks under a wild hook from Smith. Liddell doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Smith scores with a hook to the body. Liddell takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Liddell takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Smith lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Liddell backs up against the cage.

and Smith counters with a straight right hand. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Liddell stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Smith. Liddell is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Smith misses with a shot to the body and Liddell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A shot to the liver by Smith. Beautiful body shot. Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Liddell moves out of range easily. Smith stuns Liddell with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Liddell throws a series of punches but Smith moves out of range. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Liddell crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Smith - the referee stops the clock and Liddell gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Smith. Liddell manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Smith lands with a right hand. John Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Liddell throws a left and a right that both miss
and Smith counters with a lovely straight right hand! John Smith seems to be getting the better of the standup. Smith closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Liddell did well to prevent Smith getting side control. Smith prevents Liddell from standing back up.
Smith perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Liddell is trying to stand up here but Smith is controlling him well. Smith not doing much here.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Smith wasn't active enough on the ground. Liddell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Smith counters with a solid body kick. Smith lands with a right hand. Smith scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Smith.
Liddell looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely. Smith lands with a slapping head kick. Smith scores with a hook to the body. Liddell takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Smith slips a straight right by Liddell. Liddell takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Chuck Liddell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith thuds his right hand into Liddell's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Liddell throws a lazy right hand but Smith sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A chopping leg kick lands by Smith. Nice shot by Smith. Smith ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Liddell looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Smith. Liddell shrugs it off though. Liddell walks forward, straight into a front kick from Smith. Smith throws a head kick that half lands.
Smith lands a nice looking kick to the body. Liddell takes a step back to recover. Liddell takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Liddell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Crunch! Smith slams his shin into Liddell's torso.
And that's the end of the fight! John Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
