Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damon Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Sparrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton jabs at Sparrow's body.
Newton throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
It looks like Jason Sparrow has been cut.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Newton.
Newton getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Sparrow fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Newton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sparrow slips a jab and a cross from Newton.
Newton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sparrow uses his free foot to push down on Newton's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Newton.
Sparrow is working for a guillotine from mount but Newton frees his head quite easily.
Sparrow looks gassed!

Newton tries to lock up and control but Sparrow gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sparrow is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Newton can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Newton tries to control the position but Sparrow now has his back.
Newton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sparrow on the ground.
Newton is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Sparrow has the hooks in. Newton is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Newton prevents Sparrow from getting a body triangle.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Sparrow scores with punches from the back.
Newton trying to control the action but Sparrow just sinks the hooks in.
Sparrow lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Newton trying to control the hands but Sparrow won't let him.
Newton is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Newton wants to control his opponent's hands but Sparrow gets his hands free.
Sparrow is riding his opponent, not letting Newton buck him off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sparrow is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Sparrow sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Newton taps out!
