Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, roger marsden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wyatt Earp! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Earp slaps away a takedown attempt from marsden, before circling back to the center of the mat. Earp tries to work over marsden's front leg with a kick but marsden checks it. marsden connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Earp momentarily.
Some wild striking there from Earp.
marsden scores with a hook. marsden scores with a decent looking hook. Earp tries to close the distance and clinch up but marsden swats him away and circles back towards the center. marsden fails with a takedown attempt. Earp on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. This has been an exciting period of action! marsden lands a slapping body shot.
marsden closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - marsden lands in his opponent's guard. marsden trying to stand up but can't free himself from Earp's guard. marsden is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Earp is trying to keep marsden in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Earp controlling the position. marsden thows a big elbow that misses. Earp wants to get back to his feet but marsden is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Earp not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Earp looking to hit a scissor sweep but marsden is one step ahead there.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Wyatt Earp was stalling too much, according to the referee. Earp swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and marsden counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. The fight stays on the outside here - marsden looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Earp shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Earp looks gassed! Earp got a little sloppy there for a moment and marsden has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Earp has managed to get both his arms back between marsden's legs - danger averted. Earp must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. This has been an exciting period of action! Earp is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but marsden has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Earp is looking to defend but marsden has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Earp! marsden pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Earp taps out and this one is all over!
