Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roberts will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Waitzel needs to keep his hands up - Roberts had a free shot at his head there.

Waitzel fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Roberts manages to avoid it.

so Roberts counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Waitzel can do anything to dispel that myth.

Roberts wants to control from the top but Waitzel keeps moving.

Roberts stands and throws Waitzel's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Roberts is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Waitzel looks calm but he's in trouble here. Roberts gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Waitzel is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Roberts lets go of the hold and Waitzel can pop his arm back in it's socket.
