Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Brown! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown clinches. A frustrated look appears on James's face as he tries to break the clinch. James misses with a hook from the clinch. Brown unloads a knee to the mid-section. James lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. James doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
James prevents a takedown attempt there.
Brown prevents a body shot from James. James wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brown has him pressed against the cage. Brown blocks a body shot from James. Brown with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. James wants to stall.
Brown dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. James takes a shot to the head. James blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. James is trying to break free. James is fighting off a takedown attempt but Brown is just too persistent for him and manages to trip James to the mat. James regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Brown is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. James trying to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Brown stands and throws James's legs to the side, diving into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brown scoring with punches from side control. James is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Brown has just dragged him back down to the mat. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! James can't do much from the bottom here. Brown in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... James is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
