PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Robson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Hargh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hargh has chosen Dominant view as his entrance music. Ken Hargh told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabriel Robson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ken Hargh !
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robson tries to clinch there but Hargh circles away.
Hargh blocks a jab.
Hargh bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Robson's head.
Hargh misses with a series of wild punches.
Hargh circles away from the clinch attempt.
Robson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Robson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Hargh misses with a series of wild punches.
Robson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
A lazy left from Hargh finds it's target.
A jab from Hargh does it's job there.
Robson throws a right hand that Hargh ducks under and follows up with a left that Hargh also avoids with ease.
Robson connects with a leg kick. Hargh looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Robson throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Hargh counter with a right hand.

Hargh bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hargh tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hargh has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Robson regains half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Robson is not content to let Hargh control the position.
Hargh wants to pass the guard but Robson is defending well.

Hargh is looking to advance position but Robson won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hargh seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Robson wants to control but Hargh passes into side.
Hargh wants to control but Robson is keeping him busy.
Hargh passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Robson!

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Robson misses with a combination
and Hargh counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Robson misses with a looping left.
Hargh lands a two punch combo.
Robson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Robson throws a lazy right hand but Hargh sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Robson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Hargh throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Robson on the side of the head.
Hargh lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Hargh throws a series of strikes that have Robson backpedaling.
Robson swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Hargh cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hargh wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Robson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hargh moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gabriel Robson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Robson wants to clinch.
Hargh goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Hargh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Robson.
Robson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hargh to score with a decent uppercut.
Hargh lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Robson motions for Hargh to come forward. Robson throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Robson tries to work over Hargh 's front leg with a kick but Hargh checks it.
Robson on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Hargh swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Robson.
Hargh fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Robson cracks the inside of Hargh 's front leg.
Hargh fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Robson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Hargh scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Hargh is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Robson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Robson is being controlled here.

Robson is not content to let Hargh control the position.
Hargh wants to control for a moment but Robson uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Hargh seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hargh is trying to control the action in half guard but Robson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Robson gets back to full guard.

Robson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hargh is aware though and is defending well.
Hargh in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hargh controls from within his opponent's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Robson holds on and takes a little breather.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hargh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ken Hargh was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Hargh tries to score a power double leg takedown but Robson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hargh somewhat.

Hargh is looking to advance position but Robson won't allow it.
Hargh is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Hargh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Robson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Robson misses the shot to the body.
Robson throws a leg kick
and Hargh connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hargh cracks Robson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Hargh throws a right and a left that both miss.

Hargh connects with a right hand. Robson shakes it off.
Hargh throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Robson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Hargh connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

and Hargh counters with a nice uppercut.
Robson fails to land with a series of punches.
Ken Hargh seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hargh throws out a powerful jab.
Robson misses with a straight left.
Robson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Hargh bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Robson's head.
Hargh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Robson throws a leg kick that misses.

Hargh lands an overhand right.

Robson moves into range and clinches up with Hargh .
Robson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hargh has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
A head punch on the inside from Robson fails to land.
Hargh tries to pull guard but Robson won't allow it.
Hargh jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Robson walks away with a smile on his face. Hargh gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hargh jabs Robson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hargh changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Robson tries to move into range but Hargh moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Robson misses with the combination.
Nice straight punches there by Hargh . You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hargh .
Hargh scores with a hook to the body. Robson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hargh avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Hargh stalks Robson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Robson's face. Robson staggers backwards, shaken.
Hargh pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Robson back to the cage. Hargh follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Hargh bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hargh has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Poor strikes thrown by Hargh there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Hargh controlling the position easily from mount.

Hargh trying to control but Robson is having none of it.
Robson has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Hargh 's lack of action.

Hargh is looking to take a break and control but Robson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gabriel Robson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hargh frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hargh goes for an armbar but Robson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Robson.
Hargh lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Robson!

Robson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Robson is just holding on here. Hargh manages to take his back.
Hargh has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hargh has got his arm under Robson's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Robson has spun round into Hargh 's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

And that's the end of the fight!
Ken Hargh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hargh winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
