PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between hairy bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller has chosen Go Hard or Go Home as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for hairy bear has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, hairy bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Miller!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
bear tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Miller paws at him with a jab and circles away.

bear gets caught flat footed, as Miller shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Miller looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

bear looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Miller with a flurry of punches that miss.
Miller is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Miller looking to pass the guard.
bear wants to sweep but no luck.
Miller is stalling in the full guard.

bear has his foot on Miller's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Miller works his way back into a safe position though.

Miller is working for a kimura but bear is defending it quite comfortably.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Miller is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and bear defends it well.

bear trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
bear is trying desperately to improve position.
bear tries to hold on but Miller postures up.
Miller controlling the position easily from mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Miller trying to control but bear is having none of it.
bear is bucking up trying to escape but Miller cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

bear manages to reverse the position and now he's in Miller's guard. Nice work there by bear.
Miller is pulling down on bear's head. It's preventing any offense from bear, at least for the moment.

bear forces his way into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Miller.
bear slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Miller sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
bear is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Miller!

bear moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Miller has worked his arm free - good work by Miller!
bear tries to move into full mount but can't pass Miller's legs.

bear swings around for an armbar but Miller sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into bear's guard.

bear is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

bear keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully.
Miller passes bear's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Miller not doing much here.
Miller wants to free his trapped foot but bear is holding on for dear life with his legs.
bear is looking to control Miller's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can bear avoid being mounted?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Miller not doing much here.

Miller is working for a submission of some sort.
bear tries to roll over but Miller keeps him under control.
bear is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


bear scores with a sloppy right hand. Miller should have avoided that one.
Miller gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.


It looks like Marcus Miller has been cut.
hairy bear seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

bear knocks Miller to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

Miller is still in real trouble! Can bear finish him?
Miller struggling a bit here.
Miller seems to have recovered his senses.

bear is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Miller is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Miller tries to improve position but can't.
Miller manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
bear trying to control the action but Miller is working from the bottom.
Miller is pressing down on bear's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

bear postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Miller is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of bear, into his guard.

bear had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miller defends it easily.

bear has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Miller is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for bear.
Marcus Miller has got the better of the ground game so far.
Miller takes a little break here. bear wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
bear can't do much from the bottom here.

Miller is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down bear's shoulder. That is not cool.
Miller wants to control but bear is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Marcus Miller.
A head kick misses from bear.

Miller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Miller works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Miller lands some shots froms side control.
Miller controls the position from side control.
bear is looking for a sweep.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to hairy bear.
I think Miller has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
