PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bilo Sagdiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Sykes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bilo Sagdiev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Sykes!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sykes misses with a two punch combination.
Sagdiev avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck for Sykes with that takedown attempt.

Sagdiev gets a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Sagdiev scores with a nice short uppercut.
Sagdiev lands a left hand.
Sykes tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sagdiev lands with a left to the head.
Sykes tries to pull guard but Sagdiev holds him up against the cage and eventually Sykes drops back down to his feet.
Sagdiev lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Sykes backwards.
Sagdiev throws a punch but it's blocked by Sykes.

Sagdiev's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sykes is defended easily by Sagdiev.
Bilo Sagdiev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Sykes.
Sykes swats away the attempt to clinch by Sagdiev.
Sykes tries to clinch there but Sagdiev circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sykes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sagdiev sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sykes somewhat.
Bilo Sagdiev is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sagdiev lands with a cross.


It looks like Aaron Sykes has been cut.

Sagdiev sends Sykes crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sagdiev is motioning to the referee to let Sykes up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Sykes looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sagdiev lands a big right hand that sends Sykes crashing to the mat! Sagdiev stays standing though and waves Sykes back to his feet!

Sagdiev drops Sykes with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Sykes looks back up at him and smiles so Sagdiev waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Sykes is rocked!
Sagdiev fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sykes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Sagdiev takes the fight into the clinch.

Sagdiev lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sykes backwards.
Sagdiev pushes Sykes back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Sagdiev lands a really nice looking cross but Sykes seems unphased.
Sagdiev misses with a straight right.
Sagdiev missing with a left hand there. Sykes was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sagdiev lands a nice shot that snaps Sykes's head back.
Sykes is trying desperately to land a takedown but Sagdiev is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Sykes.
Sagdiev lands with a straight right. Sykes didn't see that one coming.
Sagdiev scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Sagdiev sends Sykes crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sagdiev is motioning to the referee to let Sykes up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Sykes is still on wobbly legs! Can Sagdiev finish him?
Sagdiev tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sykes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sykes seems to have recovered his senses.

Sykes tries to keep at a distance but Sagdiev has taken the fight into the clinch.

Sagdiev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sagdiev is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sagdiev stuffs the takedown attempt from Sykes. Sykes gets slowly back to his feet.
Sagdiev is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Sagdiev scores with a nice strike.
Sykes takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A jab from Sagdiev finds it's way through Sykes's defenses.
Sagdiev misses with a straight left.

Nice takedown defense from Sagdiev. No joy for Sykes on that attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sagdiev moves into the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Sagdiev as Sykes tries to tie him up.
Sagdiev lands with a light punch inside.

Sagdiev manages to break the clinch.
Sagdiev moves in looking to clinch but Sykes pushes him off.
Sykes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sagdiev tries to avoid it but Sykes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sagdiev to the ground. Sagdiev escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sagdiev stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sagdiev wants it to stay on the feet.
Sagdiev feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sykess jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sykes takes one on the button.
Sagdiev is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Sagdiev lands a really nice looking cross but Sykes seems unphased.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bilo Sagdiev dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Aaron Sykes's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Sykes wants to clinch.
Sykes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A jab from Sykes misses.

Sykes drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ground and pound from Sykes seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sagdiev is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Sykes cracks Sagdiev with a big right hand but Sagdiev just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Sagdiev takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Sagdiev is pushing Sykes's head away, looking to escape. Sykes manages to hold on to the position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sykes lands a decent elbow from side control.
Sykes wants to control but Sagdiev is keeping him busy.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Sykes lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sagdiev takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Sykes grinds an elbow into Sagdiev's temple.
Sagdiev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sykes on the ground.

Sagdiev bucks up and tries to throw Sykes off but instead Sykes has got his back!

Sykes lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Sagdiev hold on?!
Sykes lands a shot to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Sykes has managed to slip his arm under Sagdiev's chin. This could be all over... yep, Sagdiev is tapping out! Submission win for Sykes.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Aaron Sykes!
