Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John white! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eiji Date! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Date gets caught flat footed, as white shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Date looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! white throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Date works some decent striking defense from the bottom. white has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. white stands up from Date's guard - white perhaps looking for a knockout. white scores a takedown into full mount! Poor strikes thrown by white there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

white is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Date has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. white controlling the pace for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. white has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. white with the ground and pound from mount. white takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. white seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Date for as long as he can get away with.
That's two minutes gone in the round. white mounts Date! Really nice guard pass there! white lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Date can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Date takes a big shot to the side of the head.
white is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. white gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. white gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. white apologises and we restart here on the feet.
white connects with a body shot that sends Date's belly button to the back. white drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The ground and pound from white seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. white decides to stand up, so the ref orders Date to his feet. white shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! white with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Date gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. white lands a couple of digs. white trying to control the position from guard on top but Date is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. white engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Date is breathing heavily.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. white forces his way into half guard. white is trying to control the action in half guard but Date is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. John white overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We're going to have a standup here because John white wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Date gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows white to score an easy takedown into full guard. white looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. white forces his way into half guard. white decides to stand and escape the position. white closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Date to the mat! Date manages to get full guard. white trying to control the position from guard on top but Date is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Date trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. white slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. white has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Date is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. white yanks on the arm and Date is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by white.
