Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Walker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Burns! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burns shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side. Burns tries to clinch but Walker moves out of range. Burns shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Walker pinned against the cage. Walker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Burns is defended easily by Walker. Dean Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Burns. Burns shoots in but no luck this time. Burns shoots for a double leg takedown but Walker sprawls well. He's pushed Burns's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burns blocks a head kick by Walker.
Walker feints and then cracks Burns's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Burns down. Walker could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Burns looks gassed! Walker plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
It looks like Lance Burns has been cut. Burns steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Walker. That one must have hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Walker fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Burns.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Walker connects with a leg kick. Burns looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Walker connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Walker turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Walker scoring well with a low kick there.
Walker lands a big head kick that sends Burns tumbling to the mat! Walker takes a step backwards and waves Burns back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Burns is rocked! Burns wants to stay close but Walker steps back to make room for something. Burns seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Walker and Burns drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Dean Walker!
