Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Hanssteth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Eric Hanssteth has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eric Hanssteth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanssteth closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hunt circles away.

Hunt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunt looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Hunt tries for a kimura but Hanssteth is defending well.
Hunt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hanssteth keeps working.
Hanssteth tries to bench press Hunt off him but Hunt keeps the position.
Hanssteth can't do much from the bottom here.

Hunt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hanssteth knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hunt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hanssteth tries to bench press Hunt off him but Hunt keeps the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hanssteth is looking to reverse the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hanssteth tries for a takedown but Hunt circles away easily

and Hunt counters with a shoot takedown. Hanssteth fights it but they end up in guard.

Hanssteth had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hunt is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hanssteth Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hunt's back instead.

Hunt breaks Hanssteth's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Hanssteth tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hanssteth is pulling down on Hunt's head to control his posture.

Hunt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hunt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hunt thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hunt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hunt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hanssteth knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hunt tries to move into full mount but can't pass Hanssteth's legs.

You can see the frustration on Hanssteth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hanssteth tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hunt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hanssteth is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hunt off and has taken his back!

Hanssteth tries to keep control of the position but Hunt is staying busy.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hanssteth with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hunt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hanssteth won't be happy with that.

Hunt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hanssteth has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hanssteth is looking for a sweep.
Hanssteth keeps Hunt under control for a moment.

Hunt thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hunt tries for a kimura but Hanssteth is defending well.
Hanssteth manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Hunt is working for a submission of some sort.

Hunt is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hanssteth is just riding it out for now. Hunt eventually gives up the hold.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hunt decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hanssteth is trying to get back to full guard.
Hanssteth throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Hanssteth is trying to control but can't.

Hunt is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Hunt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hanssteth is defending against the submission attempts here by Hunt.
Hanssteth has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hunt is working away from the top position though.
Hunt prevents Hanssteth from improving his position.
Hanssteth manages to get to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hunt wants to pass the guard but Hanssteth is keeping the position.

Mike Hunt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Hunt has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hanssteth can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hunt keeping busy on the bottom but Hanssteth has passed one foot through into half guard.

Hanssteth is looking to take a break and control but Hunt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hunt tries to roll over but Hanssteth keeps him under control.
Hunt regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hunt manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hanssteth tries to lock up and control but Hunt gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hanssteth manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Hunt wants to work for an arm triangle but Hanssteth is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hanssteth is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hunt is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hanssteth is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Eric Hanssteth just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Hanssteth shoots and misses

and Hunt decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hanssteth's guard.
Hanssteth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hunt has gone for a leg lock! Hanssteth slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hunt's guard.

Hanssteth trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hunt tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hunt has his foot on Hanssteth's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hanssteth works his way back into a safe position though.

Hunt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hanssteth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hanssteth manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hanssteth pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hunt is keeping the position for now.

Hunt looking for a guillotine here but Hanssteth defends easily.

Hanssteth has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hunt to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Hanssteth is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hunt pulls down on the head and he's put Hanssteth to sleep! This one is all over!
