Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Fonseca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matty Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fonseca comes to the cage accompanied by Guns n' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jackson Fonseca! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matty Johnson! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Fonseca counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fonseca. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth. Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet. Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fonseca defends it easily. Fonseca not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Fonseca wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Fonseca is really struggling to control Johnson but he's trying to hold on to the position. Johnson working a defensive guard here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Johnson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fonseca. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is not content to let Fonseca control the position. Johnson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Fonseca is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Johnson as he works his way to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fonseca trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Fonseca passes into half guard. Johnson trying to control but Fonseca postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Fonseca is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson is looking for a sweep. Fonseca is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Fonseca is trying to control the action in half guard but Johnson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Johnson is looking to control Fonseca's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted? Johnson looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Johnson wants to improve his position but Fonseca is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fonseca is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Fonseca is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Johnson sees it coming and defends easily. Johnson manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Fonseca wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fonseca gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Fonseca wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Fonseca works a leg free and moves into half guard. Johnson missing with punches from the bottom.
Fonseca is working for a submission of some sort.
Johnson is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Fonseca jumps into side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jackson Fonseca dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Johnson throws a right hand that misses
and Fonseca counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Johnson's guard now. Johnson looking for a guillotine here but Fonseca defends easily.
Fonseca pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johnson is keeping the position for now. Fonseca wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Fonseca got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fonseca has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted. Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fonseca can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Fonseca drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Fonseca as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Johnson screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Fonseca! Nice submission victory there!
