PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lewis McMurray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mason Capwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Capwell comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Haunted - 99 kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lewis McMurray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mason Capwell!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMurray misses with a combination
and Capwell counters with a straight right hand.
McMurray tries to clinch
and Capwell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
McMurray ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

McMurray uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Capwell.

and Capwell counters with a nice double leg into side control. McMurray won't be happy with that.
McMurray is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
McMurray knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Capwell on the ground.

McMurray darts in trying to clinch
and Capwell counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

McMurray wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Capwell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McMurray's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Capwell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McMurray with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

McMurray is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Capwell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Mason Capwell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


McMurray swings and misses with a shot to the body

McMurray on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McMurray tries to get out of the position.
McMurray is not content to let Capwell control the position.
Capwell creates some space and throws a big elbow, but McMurray sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The referee asks Capwell politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Capwell prefers to stall for the moment though.

McMurray is concentrating on defense, preventing Capwell from advancing position.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Capwell lands a nice short elbow.

Mason Capwell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Capwell winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
