Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ivan Klerk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Lamont! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lamont scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Lamont looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Lamont fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Klerk is looking to regain half guard here but Lamont keeps moving and retains side control. Klerk on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Klerk tries to get out of the position. Lamont lands a few punches from side control. Klerk striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Lamont is trying to get an arm triangle but Klerk is defending well. Klerk regains half guard. Ground and pound from Lamont. Klerk tries to roll over but Lamont keeps him under control. Klerk has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Klerk actively working from the bottom here. Klerk looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Lamont is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Klerk is trying to get back to full guard. Klerk tries to kick Lamont off but Lamont keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Lamont is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Klerk doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lamont. Lamont looks gassed! Klerk gets back to full guard.
Klerk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lamont gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lamont stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Klerk swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lamont with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lamont with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Klerk looking for a guillotine here but Lamont defends easily.
This has been an exciting period of action! Lamont avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Klerk is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Klerk is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Lamont has his hands clasped together but Klerk extends an breaks Lamont's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Klerk.
