The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A left and a right from Stonefield both land. Nice combination. Clover closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stonefield circles away. Stonefield looks to throw the jab but Clover is out of range. Clover looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Stonefield keeping moving, preventing Clover from controlling successfully. Clover won't allow Stonefield to sweep him here. Clover looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Clover is pushing down on Stonefield's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stonefield is fighting to maintain full guard but Clover has managed to sneak the leg through. Clover controlling the action here. Clover thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Stonefield is being controlled here. Stonefield throws a hook but Clover blocks it. Stonefield will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Clover shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Clover was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Clover is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Stonefield has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Stonefield! Clover really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stonefield. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Clover is looking for a triangle but Stonefield pushes his legs off easily.

A head kick misses from Clover. Stonefield slips under a jab from Clover. Clover shoots in and gets a takedown into Stonefield's guard. Clover drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stonefield manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Clover has Stonefield in his guard. Clover is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
