The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Parinias circles away.
Parinias works Sanchez's body with a nice hook.
Sanchez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Parinias lands a jab to Sanchez's midsection.
Parinias scores with a shot to the body.

Sanchez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

It looks like Thiago Sanchez has been cut.

Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown. Parinias tries to sprawl out of it but Sanchez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Parinias manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Thiago Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Parinias lunges at Sanchez with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Sanchez's hand.
Sanchez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Parinias decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
