Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Marcus Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Renzo Gracie! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Davis but Davis pushes him off and we're back to square one. Gracie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Davis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Gracie keeps the fight on the outside. Davis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie. Marcus Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renzo Gracie. Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Davis, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Davis against the cage but Davis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Davis thows a body shot but no joy. Davis throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily. Davis throws a predictable looking body shot
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into guard. Davis wants to get back to his feet but Gracie is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Davis keeping full guard, as Gracie tries to pass. Gracie prevents Davis from getting back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis keeping full guard, as Gracie tries to pass. Davis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis wants to stand but Gracie is controlling the position. Gracie passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gracie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Davis wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Davis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Gracie advances to full mount. Gracie working for a submission but Davis is keeping him at bay. Davis is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie has hold of Davis's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Davis manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gracie looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Gracie goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Davis turns into him and now he's in Gracie's guard.
Gracie is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Davis has his hands clasped together but Gracie extends an breaks Davis's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Gracie.
