PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Kline (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kline has chosen Rock'n me as his entrance music. Johnny Turk has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Turk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kenny Kline!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turk misses with a combination
and Kline connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Johnny Turk has been cut.
Johnny Turk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kline counters with a straight right hand.
Turk throws a poor cross that misses

and Kline counters with a beautiful punch that sends Turk to the canvas!


Turk is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Turk keeping full guard, as Kline tries to pass.
Kline is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Kline is looking to work some ground and pound but Turk has wrist control.
Turk wants to stand and escape but Kline is having none of it.
Kline trying to control the position from guard on top but Turk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kline is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kenny Kline hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Turk tries a head kick but it misses.
Turk throws a right and a left that both miss.
A good leg kick by Kline.
Turk throws a combination that misses
and Kline counters with an outside leg kick.
Turk is breathing heavily.
Kline lands a nice leg kick that just misses Turk's sensitive parts.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Turk falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kline counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kline throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kline connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


Johnny Turk's cut is getting worse.

Kline knocks Turk to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kline throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Kline controlling the position.
Turk is not content to let Kline control the position.
Kline cracks Turk with a big right hand but Turk just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kline throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Turk is letting Kline control him for a moment.
Kline sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Turk is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Kline creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Kline postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kline is trying to ground and pound but Turk uses the momentary lack of control by Kline to regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kline tries to pass to full mount but Turk defends it.
Turk looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kline trying to control from half guard but Turk is working away.
Kline throwing shots but Turk is blocking nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kline in particular looking to stall.
Turk pushes Kline off looking to stand but Kline dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenny Kline dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Johnny Turk's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kline takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


It looks like Kenny Kline has been cut.
Turk pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kline thumps Turk with a low kick.
Kline cracks a nice hook into Turk's ribs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kline dips to his left and cracks Turk with an uppercut!
Kline throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kline throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kline has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kline scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Turk wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Kline wants to control but Turk is keeping him busy.
Kline is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Turk will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kline misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kline tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kline has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Turk is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Turk is not content to let Kline control the position.
Turk taking punishment in the form of punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kline is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Turk will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Kline prevents Turk from escaping the position.
Kline misses with the ground and pound.
Turk takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.


Johnny Turk's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Turk defending against the ground and pound.
Turk is not content to let Kline control the position.
Kline controls the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kline tries to score with some ground and pound. Turk controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Kline laying and praying for a moment but Turk takes advantage and regains half guard.

Turk is refusing to be controlled, as Kline sits in half guard.
Kline is stalling here. Turk is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kline seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Turk has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Turk tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Kline sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kline is looking for a sweep. Turk is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kline trying to hold on to Turk's head to control him but Turk postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Turk perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Turk stalling away here and it's allowed Kline to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenny Kline showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Turk throws a combination that misses

and Kline counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kline tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Turk avoids it.
Turk wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kline lands a knee to the body.
Kline utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Turk takes an elbow to the forehead.
Kline tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Turk avoids it.
Kline lands an elbow that stopped Turk in his tracks for a moment.


Jeez, Johnny Turk's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Johnny Turk's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kenny Kline!
