Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh McRoberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emerson Montain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josh McRoberts has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Josh McRoberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Emerson Montain!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Valeri Chadov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McRoberts with a lazy takedown attempt
and Montain counters with a stiff right hand.
Montain shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and McRoberts counters with a takedown into side control.

McRoberts wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Montain, who protects the arm well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montain can do anything to dispel that myth.
Montain is trying to get back to half guard.

McRoberts tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McRoberts has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
McRoberts working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
McRoberts has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McRoberts working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Montain tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McRoberts wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Montain is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Montain gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Montain wants to control but McRoberts is keeping busy.

McRoberts seems to be looking for submissions.

McRoberts is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Montain sees it coming and defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Montain is trying to maintain the position but McRoberts is very close to passing his half guard.
McRoberts thows a huge punch but Montain dodges it nicely.
McRoberts winds up and cracks Montain with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McRoberts prevents Montain from improving his position.
McRoberts throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Montain has his hands clasped together around McRoberts's back. He's all about the action.
Montain has hold of McRoberts's hands but McRoberts slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Montain has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McRoberts is working away from the top position though.
Montain keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Montain is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

McRoberts is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
McRoberts working over Montain with some ground and pound. Montain looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Montain wants to get back to full guard.
McRoberts is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Montain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McRoberts. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McRoberts is trying to control the action in half guard but Montain is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McRoberts thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Montain's head.
Montain is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Montain is looking to control McRoberts's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Montain avoid being mounted?
McRoberts seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Montain does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Montain is controlling McRoberts's position as best he can from this difficult position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

McRoberts is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

McRoberts looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh McRoberts dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McRoberts fails to land the takedown.
Josh McRoberts is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McRoberts misses with a series of wild punches.
Montain fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Some wild striking there from McRoberts.
No luck for McRoberts with that takedown attempt.
McRoberts throws a poor cross that misses

and Montain counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for McRoberts!

McRoberts is wriggling around trying to escape.

Montain is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, McRoberts has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Montain with a couple of short strikes.
McRoberts tries to reverse the position but Montain maintains control.
McRoberts slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Montain is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

McRoberts looking for submissions off his back.
Montain keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

McRoberts looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
McRoberts wants to control but Montain is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McRoberts makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McRoberts.

McRoberts has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Montain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Montain stays in close to McRoberts's body and controls the position.

McRoberts had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Montain defends it easily.

McRoberts working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Montain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Montain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Josh McRoberts overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McRoberts keeping moving, preventing Montain from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Montain slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

McRoberts throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Montain escapes and throws McRoberts's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Montain stands up.
McRoberts swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McRoberts displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Montain.
Montain is trying hard to land a takedown here. McRoberts sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Josh McRoberts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emerson Montain.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McRoberts swings for the body but Montain moves out of range.
McRoberts swats away the attempt to clinch by Montain.
Montain closes the distance and clinches up with McRoberts, looking for a takedown. Montain pushes McRoberts against the cage but McRoberts circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McRoberts swings widly with a right hand

and Montain counters with a single leg into guard. McRoberts didn't expect that.

McRoberts escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Montain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McRoberts is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

McRoberts is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Montain defends well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McRoberts looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emerson Montain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Montain moves out of range as McRoberts throws a body kick.
Montain wants to clinch.
McRoberts throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Montain counters with a shoot takedown. McRoberts fights it but they end up in guard.
Montain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McRoberts is looking to sinch up a triangle. Montain throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to McRoberts's body to avoid the submission. McRoberts has instead reached around Montain's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! McRoberts arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Josh McRoberts!
