Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matt Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Queixao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andre Queixao has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Queixao!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Queixao tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gracie paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Queixao shoots in and drives through. Gracie sprawls well.
Gracie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Queixao checks a leg kick.
Queixao fails with the takedown.
Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Queixao.
Queixao fails to land the takedown.
Matt Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Queixao.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Queixao throws a low kick, looking for Gracie's leg but Gracie calmly moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Queixao shoots for a takedown but Gracie saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
No luck for Queixao with that takedown attempt.
Queixao changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gracie tries to avoid it but Queixao manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gracie to the ground. Gracie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gracie gets the takedown into side control.
Queixao is trying to improve his position.
Queixao looks gassed!
You can see the frustration on Queixao's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Gracie is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Gracie grinds an elbow into Queixao's temple.

Gracie is staying tight to Queixao's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Gracie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Gracie tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Queixao wants to control but Gracie postures up.

Gracie is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Queixao's shoulder. That is not cool.

Gracie decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Gracie throws a low kick but it's checked well by Queixao.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Queixao sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gracie dives in and grabs Queixao's left leg, looking for a takedown. Queixao pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.

and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Queixao didn't expect that.

Queixao gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gracie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Gracie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Queixao is breathing heavily.

Gracie is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Gracie gets to his feet. Queixao looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Gracie seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Queixao for as long as he can get away with.

Queixao is trying to control but Gracie manages to pass to mount!

Gracie is landing with some decent strikes but Queixao is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

BOOM! Gracie connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Matt Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gracie lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gracie has control of Queixao's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Queixao regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Gracie lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gracie lands a nice shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Queixao didn't expect that.
Gracie postures up in Queixao's guard and throws a big left but Queixao blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Queixao takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gracie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gracie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Queixao can do to turn this around?
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Gracie gets to his feet - Queixao follows without any prompting.

Gracie stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Queixao.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Queixao as he avoids it easily.

Gracie throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Queixao was covering up waiting for the punch and Gracie finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Queixao can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gracie controls the pace.

Gracie gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Queixao's waist but Queixao gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gracie gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Gracie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Queixao uses from the top position.
Queixao must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gracie looking for a triangle here. Queixao is fighting it but it looks tight! Gracie pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Queixao is tapping out - this one is all over!
