Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Polidoro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andre Polidoro could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mauricio Rua's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Polidoro. No joy for Rua on that attempt.
Polidoro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Polidoro tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rua manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Polidoro closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Polidoro moves into full mount! Rua won't be happy about that!
Rua wants to control but Polidoro is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Polidoro is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

and Polidoro decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rua's guard.

and Polidoro counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rua won't be happy with that.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Polidoro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rua, who protects the arm well.
Rua is not content to let Polidoro control the position.
You can see the frustration on Rua's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Polidoro has a hand on Rua's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Rua takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rua cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Polidoro has left one of his arms exposed and Rua doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Polidoro screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
