Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tero Elo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins comes to the cage accompanied by Hostile Mass. Elo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Helsinki City Boy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Jenkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tero Elo! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Elo throws a low kick, looking for Jenkins's leg but Jenkins calmly moves out of range. Jenkins closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jenkins lands in his opponent's guard. Jenkins postures up in Elo's guard and throws a big left but Elo blocks it. Jenkins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jenkins slips nicely into half guard. Elo is trying to stand up here but Jenkins is controlling him well. Elo trying to hold on to Jenkins's head to control him but Jenkins postures up.
Jenkins tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Jenkins uses his free foot to push down on Elo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Elo. Elo taking shots to the head. Elo tries to lock up and control but Jenkins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Jenkins thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jenkins swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Elo is now in Jenkins's guard. A big mistake from Jenkins there, giving up the dominant position! Elo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jenkins looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Elo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Jenkins has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Elo has passed into side control.

Jenkins is breathing heavily. Jenkins is looking for a sweep. Elo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Elo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Jenkins is not content to let Elo control the position. Elo missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Jenkins is pressing down on Elo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Jenkins had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Elo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jenkins Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Elo's back instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jenkins misses with punches from the back. Even with his hooks in, Jenkins manages to miss with strikes from the back. Jenkins working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Elo trying to control the hands but Jenkins won't let him. Elo is trapped and Jenkins is scoring with shots to the head and body. Elo remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Jenkins will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Jenkins is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Elo. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Jenkins is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Elo tries to land a front kick but Jenkins steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Jenkins closes the distance and clinches up with Elo, looking for a takedown. Jenkins pushes Elo against the cage but Elo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Elo misses with a double jab.
Jenkins takes the fight into the clinch. Elo stalling in the clinch but Jenkins improves position. Jenkins blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Jenkins has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Elo regains guard immediately. Elo is looking for a triangle but Jenkins pushes his legs off easily.
Jenkins drops back, looking for a kneebar! Elo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Elo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Elo! Elo controls the position from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Elo moves into full mount! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jenkins really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Elo trying to control but Jenkins is having none of it. Jenkins is trying desperately to improve position. Elo sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Jenkins is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Elo blocks Jenkins's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Jenkins working to try and regain half guard.
Jenkins is squirming around, avoiding Elo's attempts to control the action. Rick Jenkins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jenkins really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Elo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Elo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Elo sitting in guard, not really doing much. Jenkins has his foot on Elo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jenkins wants to stand up but Elo is controlling him.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jenkins closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Elo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jenkins's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jenkins's back! Jenkins manages to reverse the position and now he's in Elo's guard. Nice work there by Jenkins.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rick Jenkins will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jenkins moves out of range as Elo strikes. Elo wants to clinch but Jenkins slips to the side and Jenkins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Jenkins tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Jenkins throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Jenkins misses with a head shot. Elo uses the momentum to regain guard. Elo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jenkins is looking to stand up but Elo won't let him. Jenkins throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Elo throws a quick inside leg kick. Elo works over Jenkins's head and body with a nice combination. Jenkins gets a takedown into half guard. Jenkins wants to work for an arm triangle but Elo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jenkins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Elo's head. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jenkins lands a nice short elbow.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jenkins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Elo tries to avoid it but Jenkins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Elo to the ground. Elo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jenkins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Elo pinned against the cage. Elo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Jenkins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Elo throws a series of punches but Jenkins avoids them all with ease. Tero Elo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Elo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Jenkins counters with a nice double leg into guard. Jenkins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Elo is keeping the position for now. Jenkins drops back looking for a leg! Elo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Elo manages to kick Jenkins off! Jenkins jumps back into Elo's guard. And that's the end of the fight! Rick Jenkins showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jenkins, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
