The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Degente misses the target.
Laiho blocks a head kick by Degente.
Degente throws a head kick that half lands.
Degente scores with a nice body kick.
Laiho bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Both fighters circling a little - Degente finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Degente shoots in for a double leg but Laiho sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Degente throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Degente shoots in but no luck this time.

Degente buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Laiho on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Degente bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Degente throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Degente tries for a takedown but Laiho sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Degente throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Degente throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Laiho uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Degente.
A head kick from Degente lands but Laiho takes it in his stride.
Laiho ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A slapping leg kick lands for Degente.
Degente connects with a solid leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Degente moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Degente has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Degente wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Degente working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Laiho turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Degente off and cradles Laiho's limp body as Degente celebrates with his corner.
