Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Jungle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Sawyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeff Sawyer acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Jungle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeff Sawyer!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jungle fails with a takedown attempt.

Jungle clinches up against the cage.

Jungle gets control of Sawyer's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jungle will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jungle is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jungle wants to stand up but Sawyer is controlling the position.
Jungle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jungle passes the guard and advances to mount!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sawyer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jungle postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sawyer looks a forlorn figure.

Jungle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sawyer is looking to escape.

Sawyer just holding on.
Jungle trying to control but Sawyer is having none of it.
Sawyer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jungle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sawyer is working to get back to half guard.

Jungle has hold of Sawyer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sawyer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sawyer is squirming around, avoiding Jungle's attempts to control the action.
The referee warns Sawyer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jungle stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Jungle shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sawyer defends it nicely.
Jungle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sawyer swivels and escapes.

Sawyer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Jungle is in all sorts of trouble here.

Sawyer looking to control but Jungle is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jungle is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sawyer jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jungle is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jungle and Sawyer has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Sawyer is looking to take a break and control but Jungle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jungle is trying to control Sawyer's posture but Sawyer avoids it.
Jungle manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Jungle dominated that round.

Jungle tries to sprawl but Sawyer drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Sawyer is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sawyer prevents Jungle from standing back up.
Jungle makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jungle.
Sawyer postures up.
Sawyer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jungle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jungle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sawyer is one step ahead there.
Sawyer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jungle is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Sawyer engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Jungle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jeff Sawyer wasn't active enough on the ground.
Sawyer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jungle tries for a takedown but Sawyer circles away easily

and Sawyer counters with a single leg into guard. Jungle didn't expect that.

Jungle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sawyer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jungle will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jungle has taken the fight to the clinch.

Jungle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Sawyer counters with a single leg into guard. Jungle didn't expect that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sawyer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jungle is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sawyer, into his guard.

Jeff Sawyer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Jungle throws out a loose jab but Sawyer uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jungle looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Jungle decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Sawyer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Sawyer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jungle sprawls well initially but Sawyer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jungle is looking for a triangle but Sawyer pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sawyer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jungle tries to free his leg and advance position but Sawyer is retaining full guard.
Sawyer throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Jungle stands and throws Sawyer's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sawyer can't do much from the bottom here.
Jungle is looking to take a break and control but Sawyer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Sawyer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jungle advances to full mount.
Jungle pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Sawyer tries to hold on but Jungle pushes him away.

Jungle lands a heavy elbow.
Jungle sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jungle scoring with strikes but Sawyer is staying in there.
Sawyer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jungle trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Sawyer tries to lock up and control but Jungle gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Jungle is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sawyer is surviving well by controlling Jungle's body position as best he can.

Jungle working for a submission but Sawyer is keeping him at bay.

Sawyer wants to hold on but Jungle pushes him away.
Sawyer is looking to get to half guard.
Sawyer takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Sawyer wants to control but Jungle is having none of it.

Jungle moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Sawyer has worked his arm free - good work by Sawyer!

Jungle decides to stand back up. Jungle steps back and let's Sawyer get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Steve Jungle showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jungle has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
