And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Jaa!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gil checks a low kick from Jaa.
A low kick from Gil misses
and Jaa counters with a low kick, right behind Gil 's knee.
Jaa is looking to clinch.

Jaa tries to keep at a distance but Gil has taken the fight into the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Gil as the two fighters clinch.
Gil swings wildly with an uppercut but Jaa uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jaa with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
A knee to the head by Jaa.
Jaa throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jaa is trying to force a seperation but Gil has the dominant position.
Gil tries to stall but Jaa uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Gil blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Gil.
Jaa throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gil blocks it with crossed arms.
Jaa tries to land a knee to the head but Gil blocks with his arms.
Gil throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Jaa tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gil avoids it.
Gil lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jaa backwards.
Gil stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Still in the clinch, Gil scores with a nice short uppercut.
Jaa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gil is defending well for now.
Jaa tries to land knees in the clinch but Gil avoids the damage to the body.
Jaa looks gassed!
Gil pushes Jaa back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Gil lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Jaa or not.
Gil is working Jaa over against the cage.

Gil blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Jaa tries to land knees in the clinch but Gil avoids the damage to the body.
Gil has Jaa pushed against the cage.
Jaa throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gil blocks it with crossed arms.
Jaa unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gil lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
The referee is keeping an eye on Gil - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Gil creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Gil lands a hook to the side of the head.

Gil lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jaa backwards.
Gil lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jaa backwards.

Jaa jumps guard and drags Gil to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Gil is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Gil with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Gil pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jaa is keeping the position for now.

Jaa is trying to hold Gil in close to prevent damage but Gil has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gil is looking for a kimura here.
Gil is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Gil works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gil tries to control but Jaa wriggling away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gil wants to control but Jaa has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karel Gil dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jaa throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Nice straight punches there by Gil. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gil.
Jaa cracks the inside of Gil's front leg.

Gil moves into the clinch successfully.
Jaa misses with a knee strike.
Gil can't get the takedown.
Jaa tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Jaa misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Gil.

Jaa jumps into guard, dragging Gil to the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jaa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Gil has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jaa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gil is aware though and is defending well.

Gil drops back looking for a leg! Jaa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jaa manages to kick Gil off! Gil jumps back into Jaa's guard.

Jaa wants to hit a switch here but Gil passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jaa there!

Gil wants to control the pace but Jaa is squirming around nicely.

Jaa wants to hold on but Gil pushes him away.
Gil lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jaa is working to get back to half guard.

Gil jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jaa manages to avoid the submission attempt.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karel Gil dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Jaa misses with a kick to the body.
Jaa throws a front kick that sends Gil stumbling back into the cage.
Gil loads up on a big right hand but Jaa slips the punch.
Gil misses the body punch
and Jaa counters with a body kick.
Jaa throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Jaa tries to clinch there but Gil circles away.
Gil throws a right and a left that both miss.
Karel Gil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gil throws a looping overhand right but Jaa ducks down to avoid it.
Gil takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jaa throws a head kick that misses
and Gil counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gil ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jaa avoids the body shot from Gil.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Jaa.
Jaa throws a nice inside leg kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jaa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jaa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jaa looking for a guillotine from mount but Gil is having none of it.

Jaa postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gil looks a forlorn figure.
Gil is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jaa looking to control but Gil is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jaa is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gil can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Jaa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gil can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gil is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Karel Gil is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jaa looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Gil is squirming around, avoiding Jaa's attempts to control the action.

Tony Jaa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jaa has hold of Gil's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gil manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gil keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gil wants to hold on but Jaa pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tony Jaa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gil has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
