Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sam Psa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johnny Monfriesz! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Psa thumps Monfriesz with a low kick. Monfriesz swats away the attempt to clinch by Psa. Psa throws a sloppy head kick and Monfriesz moves out of range easily. Monfriesz fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Psa is out of range. Monfriesz misses with an uppercut. Psa saw that one coming. Psa misses with a low kick.
Psa moves into range and clinches up with Monfriesz. Psa tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Psa gets underhooks to prevent Monfriesz's takedown attempt.
Monfriesz wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Monfriesz blocks an uppercut.
Monfriesz is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Monfriesz is trying to push Psa away but Psa has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Psa with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Psa fights it but they end up in guard. Monfriesz pushing down on Psa's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Psa is looking for a sweep. Psa is pressing down on Monfriesz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Psa is breathing heavily. Monfriesz trying to control but Psa is working from the bottom. Monfriesz is stalling in the full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Monfriesz trying to control the position from guard on top but Psa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Johnny Monfriesz has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Monfriesz circles away from the clinch attempt and Monfriesz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Psa throws a leg kick that is checked and Monfriesz counters with a nice body shot. Good standup being displayed there by Psa as he connects with a hook. Psa tries to clinch but fails miserably and Monfriesz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Monfriesz controls from within his opponent's guard. Psa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Psa keeping full guard, as Monfriesz tries to pass. Psa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Psa tries to get out of the position. Monfriesz throws a strike but Psa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Monfriesz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Psa is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Psa tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Monfriesz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Psa uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Monfriesz. Monfriesz misses with the combination.
Psa wants to clinch and Monfriesz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Psa's guard. Psa working a defensive guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Monfriesz has gone for a leg lock! Psa slips out almost immediately though and dives into Monfriesz's guard. Psa tries to stand but Monfriesz is controlling from the bottom. Psa preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Psa decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Monfriesz, up you get! Monfriesz misses with a wild combination.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Monfriesz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Monfriesz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Monfriesz with the ground and pound from mount.

Monfriesz slows the pace down. Psa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Monfriesz on the ground. Monfriesz trying to control the position but Psa is working away. Psa tries to bench press Monfriesz off him but Monfriesz keeps the position. Monfriesz is looking to take a break and control but Psa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Monfriesz controls the position. Psa tries to get back to half guard but can't. Monfriesz sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Psa is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Psa does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Psa motions for Monfriesz to come forward. Psa throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Monfriesz throws an overhand right that lands on Psa's shoulder, as Psa tries to avoid the shot. Psa throws a nice outside leg kick. Psa moves to clinch but Monfriesz breaks away and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Psa throws a solid leg kick but Monfriesz takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Psa. Psa on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Monfriesz. Monfriesz obviously looking to wear him down.
Psa scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Monfriesz throws a shot from downtown. Psa moves away and avoids it. Monfriesz's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Psa connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Monfriesz scrambles back to his feet. Psa dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Monfriesz. That did some damage! Monfriesz with a hook. Monfriesz lands a two punch combo.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Psa wants to slow Monfriesz down by chopping away at his legs. Psa takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Psa throws a leg kick that is checked and Monfriesz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Psa! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Psa wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Monfriesz.

Monfriesz looking to control but Psa is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Monfriesz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Monfriesz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Psa tries to lock up and control but Monfriesz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Johnny Monfriesz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Monfriesz controlling from mount. Sam Psa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
