Justus kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Villain. King Justus could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Don Self's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Self!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Justus fails with the takedown

and Self counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Justus!
Self sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Justus regains half guard.
Justus tries to get to full guard but Self has control of the leg.

Justus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Self pulls his head out easily.
Justus is looking to improve his position.
Justus works his way to full guard. Good work.

Justus looking to control.
Self thows a big elbow that misses.
Self postures up.
Self stopping the sweep attempt from Justus.
Justus avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Self is looking to advance position but Justus has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Justus trying to control but Self is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Justus with a couple of short strikes.
Self really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Justus controlling the pace for now.
Self tries to buck Justus off but he can't manage it.
Self is bucking up trying to escape but Justus cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Justus content just to control the position here.
Justus postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Self looks a forlorn figure.
Justus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Justus controlling the position easily from mount.
Self is bucking up trying to escape but Justus cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Justus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Justus trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Justus working the ground and pound effectively.
Justus avoids the attempt from Self to control.

Justus controlling the position easily from mount.
Self tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Justus trying to control but Self is having none of it.
Justus landing strikes, looking to finish!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Self looks gassed!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Justus content just to control the position here.
Self can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Justus dominated that round.

Justus moves into range and clinches up with Self.
Justus has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Self avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Justus unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Justus connects with a nasty looking knee right to Self's face.


It looks like Don Self has been cut.
Justus has Self pressed against the cage, preventing Self from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Justus landing knees to the body.
Justus lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Self wants a takedown.

Justus turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Justus manages to end up in side control.
Justus lands an elbow.
Justus is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Self is breathing heavily.

Justus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Self, who protects the arm well.
Self takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
A lull in the action here as Justus stalls from top position.

Justus landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Justus trying to control the position but Self is working away.
Justus landing strikes.
Justus controls the position.

Justus working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Justus scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Self to see if he's OK.
Justus content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Self takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Self is working to avoid the ground and pound but Justus connects with a decent elbow.
Justus landing a few strikes.
Self is trying to work for a sweep but Justus has mounted him!
Justus scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Self is rocked!
Justus cracks Self with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
