Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Howie Mandell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Len Orton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mandell might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Yes. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Howie Mandell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Len Orton!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orton throws a right hand that Mandell ducks under and follows up with a left that Mandell also avoids with ease.
Orton slow jab from Mandell misses its intended target.
Mandell wants to clinch up but Orton keeps it at a distance.
The fighters circle momentarily. Orton darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


It looks like Howie Mandell has been cut.
Mandell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Orton as he avoids it easily.
Mandell shoots for a double leg takedown but Orton sprawls well. He's pushed Mandell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Orton connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Mandell walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


Mandell is rocked!
Mandell takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Oh Mandell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mandell throws a head kick that half lands.

Mandell seems to have got his legs back now.

Orton takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mandell.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Howie Mandell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Orton throws a jab when Mandell was well out of range.
Mandell wants to clinch.
Orton lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Mandell sprawling to the canvas. Orton follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Mandell hang on?
Orton not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Orton slows the pace down in half guard.

Mandell is trying to maintain the position but Orton is very close to passing his half guard.
Mandell makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mandell.
Mandell seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Orton is working Mandell over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Orton gets to his feet. Mandell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Orton lands a nice hook to Mandell's body. Mandell takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A left and a right from Orton both land. Nice combination.


Howie Mandell's cut is getting worse.
Mandell is breathing heavily.
Orton throws a nice looking combination but Mandell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Orton scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Orton looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Orton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mandell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Orton circles away.
Mandell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nice straight punches there by Orton. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Orton.
Mandell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Orton is fending him off so far but Mandell persists. Nope, Orton circles away and we're back to standing.
Orton closes the distance and clinches up with Mandell, looking for a takedown. Orton pushes Mandell against the cage but Mandell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A combination from Mandell does no damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Orton stuffs the takedown.
Mandell doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Mandell. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Orton misses with a double jab
and Mandell counters with a big head kick but Orton shrugs it off.
Mandell scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Mandell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Orton defending against the ground and pound.
Orton wants to control but Mandell postures up.
Orton manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Orton blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mandell.
Mandell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Orton keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Orton trying to control from the bottom.

Mandell is looking for a kimura here.
Mandell is tying to control. Orton wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mandell is looking for a kimura but Orton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mandell to get the leverage.

Orton makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Mandell tries for a takedown but Orton circles away easily
and Orton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Orton drops Mandell with a beautiful combination! Mandell stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Orton is looking for the KO!


Howie Mandell's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Len Orton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Orton lands with a right that hurts Mandell. Mandell looks to clinch but Orton throws a short knee that drops Mandell. This one is all over!
