Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Arizona Brewert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Lazerbeam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arizona Brewert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Lazerbeam!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewert tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lazerbeam swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lazerbeam tests Brewert's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Brewert connects with a leg kick. Lazerbeam looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Lazerbeam closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Brewert quickly recovers to half guard.
Brewert wants to control but Lazerbeam is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Lazerbeam wants to work for an arm triangle but Brewert is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Lazerbeam is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Brewert gets back to full guard.
Brewert wants to stand but Lazerbeam is controlling the position.

Lazerbeam drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Brewert manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lazerbeam has Brewert in his guard.

Brewert drops back looking for a leg! Lazerbeam is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lazerbeam manages to kick Brewert off! Brewert jumps back into Lazerbeam's guard.

Lazerbeam has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brewert can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Brewert has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lazerbeam is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lazerbeam wants to control the position but Brewert says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Brewert passes into side control, despite Lazerbeam's attempt to control the position.

Lazerbeam wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Brewert advances nicely into full mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lazerbeam can do anything to dispel that myth.

Brewert wants to finish this one by submission but Lazerbeam is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Brewert.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brewert unloads with some shots from mount but Lazerbeam bucks and avoids them well.
Brewert wants to control the pace but Lazerbeam is squirming around nicely.
Brewert is really struggling to control Lazerbeam but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Brewert doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lazerbeam counters with a single leg into guard. Brewert didn't expect that.
Lazerbeam looking to sit in guard and control but Brewert gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Brewert might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Brewert wants to control from the top but Lazerbeam keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Brewert tries to keep control of the position but Lazerbeam is staying busy.

Lazerbeam is trying to get back to his feet but Brewert has full control of the position and if anything, Lazerbeam has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Brewert's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Brewert is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lazerbeam has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Brewert is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lazerbeam is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lazerbeam is trying to get back to his feet but Brewert has full control of the position and if anything, Lazerbeam has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brewert punches the canvas rather than the man.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Brewert's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Arizona Brewert will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Brewert lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Lazerbeam has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Brewert.
Lazerbeam defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brewert.
Brewert looks to land a combination but Lazerbeam avoids it well.
Brewert closes the distance and clinches up with Lazerbeam, looking for a takedown. Brewert pushes Lazerbeam against the cage but Lazerbeam circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Brewert enables Lazerbeam to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Brewert manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Brewert manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Brewert is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lazerbeam is surviving well by controlling Brewert's body position as best he can.

Lazerbeam keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Brewert wants to control the pace but Lazerbeam is squirming around nicely.
Brewert throws some wild stikes that Lazerbeam manages to avoid easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lazerbeam is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lazerbeam wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Brewert.
Brewert moves to take his opponent's back.
Lazerbeam staying busy and making it hard for Brewert to control.

Lazerbeam covering up well and avoiding damage.
Brewert tries to keep control of the position but Lazerbeam is staying busy.

I really don't envy Lazerbeam right now.

Lazerbeam is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Brewert gets his way!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Brewert slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Arizona Brewert overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lazerbeam really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brewert. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mike Lazerbeam has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Arizona Brewert is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Will Brewert go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
