Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Helber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiroko Matsumato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Helber comes to the cage accompanied by War is coming. Matsumato is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: My Pre Fight Warmup. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rusty Helber! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hiroko Matsumato! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Helber misses with a looping right. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Helber. Helber misses with a wild body shot. Helber throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Matsumato stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Matsumato looking for a takedown here - he's got it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Matsumato tries to free his leg and advance position but Helber is retaining full guard. Matsumato is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Helber controls Matsumato momentarily but Matsumato frees himself. Matsumato sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Helber's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Helber is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Matsumato is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round. Matsumato is trying to control the action in half guard but Helber is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Matsumato is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Helber has managed to free his arm - good work. Helber is trying to maintain the position but Matsumato is very close to passing his half guard. Helber knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Matsumato on the ground. Helber holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Matsumato is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Helber wants to improve his position but Matsumato is controlling well.

Matsumato is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Matsumato works a leg free and moves into half guard. Matsumato stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Helber swivels though and keeps the full guard. Helber looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Helber is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Matsumato is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Helber striking off his back, scoring a few points. Matsumato wants to control from the top but Helber keeps moving. Matsumato passes into half guard. Helber is staying active underneath Matsumato, who seems content to just control the action from this position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Matsumato is looking for a kimura here.

and Matsumato cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Rusty Helber is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Helber lands a high kick!
Helber pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Matsumato back to the cage. Helber follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Matsumato shoots in looking for a takedown but Helber manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Matsumato's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A clash of legs there as Matsumato blocks the low kick. Rusty Helber has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hiroko Matsumato. Matsumato stuns Helber with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Helber lands a leg kick that knocks Matsumato off balance momentarily. Matsumato is breathing heavily. Matsumato with a poor takedown and Helber counters with a low kick, right behind Matsumato 's knee. Helber throws a series of strikes that have Matsumato backpedaling.

You could hear that one land in a back row.

That sent Matsumato stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Helber will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Helber wants it to stay on the feet. Helber lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Matsumato backs up against the cage.
