Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yoshihirou Kamahata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Cordero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshihirou Kamahata! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eli Cordero! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kamahata shoots and misses and Cordero counters with a takedown into side control. Kamahata tries to buck Cordero off but Cordero is having none of it. Kamahata is working hard here to advance position. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Kamahata gets back to half guard. Kamahata is trying to control but Cordero manages to pass to mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kamahata tries to hold on but Cordero postures up. Cordero is standing up, even though he is in mount. Cordero misses with a straight right. Cordero gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kamahata to score an easy takedown into full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Kamahata won't allow Cordero to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kamahata trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kamahata postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cordero is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kamahata, into his guard. Cordero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kamahata looking for a guillotine here but Cordero defends easily.

Cordero got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kamahata has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! Kamahata has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cordero is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kamahata. Kamahata struggling a bit here.
That's six minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kamahata is looking to regain half guard here but Cordero keeps moving and retains side control.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kamahata is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Cordero is thwarting Kamahata's attempts to control the position. Cordero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kamahata. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cordero prevents Kamahata from improving his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kamahata has his takedown stuffed and Cordero counters with a lovely straight right hand! Kamahata shoots and misses and Cordero counters with a stiff right hand. Kamahata misses with a takedown and Cordero counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshihirou Kamahata. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cordero throws a jab but it's blocked by Kamahata. Kamahata feints and as Cordero raises his hands in defense, Kamahata changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cordero keeping full guard, as Kamahata tries to pass.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Kamahata fails with the takedown letting Cordero counter with a right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kamahata feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Kamahata is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cordero is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cordero has escaped and now he's on top! Kamahata working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cordero doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cordero manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Cordero stopping the sweep attempt from Kamahata.

Kamahata is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cordero is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Eli Cordero has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kamahata is looking for a triangle but Cordero pushes his legs off easily.

Kamahata is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Cordero frees his head nicely. Oh but Kamahata has switched to an armbar! Cordero is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
