The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Patrick checks a leg kick.
Almeida tries to clinch up but St Patrick circles away and keeps his distance.
Almeida will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
St Patrick closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Almeida did well to prevent St Patrick getting side control.
St Patrick is looking to take a break and control but Almeida is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Almeida knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for St Patrick on the ground.
St Patrick wants to work for an arm triangle but Almeida is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
St Patrick is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Almeida is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
