Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Turtchin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sterling Archer! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turtchin tries to clinch but Archer moves away and Archer counters with a nice double leg into guard. Archer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Turtchin pulls Archer in close to prevent any damage. Turtchin wants to get back to his feet but Archer is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Turtchin managing to control the position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Archer lands with a good body shot. Turtchin misses with a takedown and Archer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Turtchin takes one to the chin there. Archer circles away from the clinch attempt and Archer counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Turtchin misses with a takedown and Archer counters with a nice uppercut. Turtchin tries to clinch but Archer moves away and Archer counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Turtchin has his takedown stuffed and Turtchin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Turtchin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Turtchin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Archer connects with a good right hand that stumbles Turtchin. Turtchin circles away out of range and recomposes himself. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Turtchin wants to clinch but Archer slips to the side and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Turtchin has his takedown stuffed and Archer counters with a lovely straight right hand! Turtchin is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turtchin falls off balance throwing a combination
and Archer counters with a straight right hand. Turtchin misses with a takedown and Archer counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Turtchin thinking. Turtchin shoots and misses and Archer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Archer connects with the punch. Archer scores with a jab to the jaw.
Turtchin is rocked! Archer misses with a series of wild punches.
Turtchin looks to clinch and Archer counters with a crisp right hand that drops Turtchin! Archer lets Turtchin back up to his feet, looking for a finish! Oh Turtchin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Archer works Turtchin's body with a nice hook. Turtchin gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Archer gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
