Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Villar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Villar has chosen Deuces as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Ray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Villar!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray throws a lazy right hand but Villar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Villar blocks a head kick by Ray.
Ray looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Villar is fending him off so far but Ray persists. Nope, Villar circles away and we're back to standing.
Ray shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Villar but Villar pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ray fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Ray. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ray.
Nice sprawl there from Villar as Ray shoots in.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Villar. No joy for Ray on that attempt.

Ray scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Ray is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Ray is looking to advance position but Villar won't allow it.
Ray has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Villar is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ray wants to free his trapped foot but Villar is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Ray is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bobby Ray.

Ray drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Ray is trying to get an arm triangle but Villar is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ray's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ray has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Ray tries for a takedown but Villar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Villar gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ray to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ray seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ray stops Villar from standing up.
Villar can't keep his opponent in guard - Ray advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ray works his foot free and advances to mount.
Ray tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Ray gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Ray fails to land with a series of punches.

Ray closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Villar wants to control but Ray postures up.
Ray controls the position.
Ray seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Villar for as long as he can get away with.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ray tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ray has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ray is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Villar will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Ray decides to stand up, so the ref orders Villar to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Ray dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Ray fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Villar tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ray paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ray shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Ray decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ray takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Villar trying to control from the bottom.
Ray keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Ray wants to pass to mount but Villar is defending the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ray in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bobby Ray.
Ray dives in and grabs Villar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Villar pushes down on Ray's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Ray. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ray changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Villar tries to avoid it but Ray manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Villar to the ground. Villar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ray leaves Villar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Ray shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Villar manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Villar wants to stand and escape but Ray is having none of it.

Ray decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Villar, up you get!
Ray looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Villar is fending him off so far but Ray persists. Nope, Villar circles away and we're back to standing.

Ray decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ray slows the pace down in half guard.
Ray is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Chris Villar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ray content just to control the position here.
Villar tries to control Ray's body but Ray pushes him off. Villar squirms to his side and now Ray has his back!
What can Villar do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

And that's the end of the fight!
Bobby Ray showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ray, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
