The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knockout fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Knockout wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rua, who protects the arm well.
Knockout content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Knockout eats them both and turns towards Rua to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Knockout crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rua - the referee stops the clock and Knockout gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rua. Knockout manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Rua lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mauricio Rua.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rua, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
