PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sasha Zamiatin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudy Alkofer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zamiatin comes to the cage accompanied by Tuvinian Singing. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sasha Zamiatin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rudy Alkofer!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alkofer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Zamiatin shoots in but Alkofer avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rudy Alkofer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alkofer is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Zamiatin shoots in looking for a takedown but Alkofer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Zamiatin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Alkofer goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Alkofer scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Zamiatin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Zamiatin there as he acknowledges the shot.
Alkofer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Alkofer's jab looks to have found its range, popping Zamiatin under the eye.
Zamiatin slips a jab and a cross from Alkofer.
Alkofer scores with the left hand. Zamiatin knows he should have avoided that one.
Alkofer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Alkofer has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Zamiatin throws a push kick but Alkofer slaps the foot to one side.
Alkofer blocks a low kick nicely.
Zamiatin shoots in but Alkofer avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sasha Zamiatin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zamiatin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alkofer as he jumps to the side.
Rudy Alkofer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Alkofer lands a jab.
Alkofer connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Zamiatin shoots in looking for a takedown but Alkofer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Zamiatin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
No joy there for Alkofer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Zamiatin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alkofer's guard.

Zamiatin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Zamiatin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Zamiatin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Alkofer, up you get!
Alkofer throws a good cross that connects.
Alkofer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Zamiatin fails with a takedown attempt.
Alkofer cracks Zamiatin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Alkofer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Zamiatin on the side of the head.

Zamiatin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alkofer pushes Zamiatin off looking to stand but Zamiatin dives back in and keeps control.

Zamiatin is looking for a kimura but Alkofer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Zamiatin to get the leverage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zamiatin tries to pass to full mount but Alkofer defends it.
Zamiatin is breathing heavily.
Alkofer looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zamiatin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Alkofer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Zamiatin.
Alkofer wants to get back to his feet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alkofer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Zamiatin passes to full mount!

Zamiatin is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Zamiatin is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Alkofer.
Alkofer is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Zamiatin had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Zamiatin misses with a takedown attempt

Alkofer is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Alkofer scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Alkofer listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Zamiatin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Zamiatin passes into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zamiatin uses his free foot to push down on Alkofer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alkofer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Zamiatin wants to control the pace but Alkofer is squirming around nicely.

Zamiatin looking for a guillotine from mount but Alkofer is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alkofer is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Zamiatin sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alkofer squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Alkofer has given up his back.
Zamiatin is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sasha Zamiatin will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Alkofer lands a nice looking body shot.
Alkofer takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Alkofer misses with a series of wild punches.
Alkofer connects with a looping right hand.
Alkofer lands a jab to the head.
Alkofer moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Zamiatin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Alkofer!

Alkofer tries to buck Zamiatin off but he can't manage it.
Alkofer is breathing heavily.

Zamiatin looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Zamiatin controlling the position easily from mount.

Zamiatin working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Alkofer turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Zamiatin off and cradles Alkofer's limp body as Zamiatin celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Sasha Zamiatin!
