Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeff Munster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elmeri Hautamaki! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hautamaki throws a head kick but Munster moves out of range.
Hautamaki throws a hook to the side of Munster's head but Munster sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hautamaki misses with a head kick.
Hautamaki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Munster. Munster feints and as Hautamaki raises his hands in defense, Munster changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hautamaki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Munster can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Munster trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Munster advances position into side control! Hautamaki is looking for a sweep. Hautamaki wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Hautamaki struggling a bit here. Hautamaki is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Munster tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Hautamaki tries to bench press Munster off him but Munster keeps the position. Hautamaki is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Hautamaki can't do much from the bottom here. Hautamaki is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Munster is staying active. Munster decides to take the fight back to the feet. A big right from Hautamaki misses. Munster avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Munster is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hautamaki's shoulder. That is not cool. Munster tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Munster has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hautamaki is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Munster looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Munster lands a nice forearm strike. Hautamaki is trying to control Munster's posture but Munster avoids it. Hautamaki tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Munster tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Munster wants to control but Hautamaki is keeping him busy. You can see the frustration on Hautamaki's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Munster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hautamaki keeps working. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Hautamaki is trying to improve his position. Hautamaki sneaks back into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Munster is working for a kimura but Hautamaki is defending it quite comfortably.
Hautamaki is trying to get back to full guard. Hautamaki preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Munster wants to control but Hautamaki is keeping him busy. Hautamaki is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Munster pulls his head out easily. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Munster in particular looking to stall. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hautamaki misses with some strikes from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hautamaki is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Munster's half guard. Hautamaki passes to side control. Hautamaki is working Munster over with some ground and pound from side control. Munster gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Hautamaki wants to work for an arm triangle but Munster is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

You can't force these things though and Hautamaki defends well. Hautamaki wants to get up but he can't break Munster's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Hautamaki is looking to work some ground and pound but Munster has wrist control. Hautamaki's corner is telling him to maintain position. Munster striking from his own guard. Hautamaki scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hautamaki preventing the sweep. Munster looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hautamaki tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Munster wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Munster cracks Hautamaki with an elbow. That is naaassty. Munster is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hautamaki has escaped the position, nice work there. Munster lands an elbow. Hautamaki is looking to reverse the position. Munster tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Munster has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hautamaki takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hautamaki is looking for a sweep. Hautamaki being controlled for a moment. Munster working away. Hautamaki tries to improve position but can't. Munster trying to control the position but Hautamaki is working away. Munster looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Munster laying and praying for a moment but Hautamaki takes advantage and regains half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Jeff Munster showed his dominance in that final round. Well Munster has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
