Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 1 - 2, fighting out of New York, Ken Maddox!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maddox will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Horrible takedown by Maddox or perhaps it was just good defense by Cabbanas which made him look bad.
Cabbanas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maddox waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Cabbanas.

Maddox throws a left and a right that both miss
and Cabbanas counters with a stiff right hand.
Maddox shoots and misses
and Cabbanas counters with a nice uppercut.

A telegraphed right hand from Maddox misses the target.

Maddox tries for a takedown but Cabbanas circles away easily
and Cabbanas counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Maddox!
Diego Cabbanas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Maddox.
Maddox really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Cabbanas is working for a guillotine from mount but Maddox frees his head quite easily.
Cabbanas can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Maddox is looking to escape.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maddox is looking to get to half guard.

Cabbanas wants to take Maddox's back but he can't do it this time.
Cabbanas is landing with some decent strikes but Maddox is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Cabbanas jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Maddox manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Cabbanas has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Maddox is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Cabbanas yanks on the arm and Maddox is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Cabbanas.
