Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George Ang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eugene Kalivas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ang comes to the cage accompanied by Darude - Sandstorm. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Ang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Eugene Kalivas!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Ang as Kalivas shoots in.
Kalivas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ang pinned against the cage. Ang gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nice takedown defense from Ang. No joy for Kalivas on that attempt.
George Ang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eugene Kalivas.
Kalivas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ang is fending him off so far but Kalivas persists. Nope, Ang circles away and we're back to standing.
Kalivas tries to clinch but Ang moves out of range.

Kalivas looking to sit in guard and control but Ang gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Angis looking to pass into half guard but Kalivas pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kalivas is in guard.

Kalivas is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ang is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ang has escaped and now he's on top!

Ang would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Ang postures up in Kalivas's guard and throws a big left but Kalivas blocks it.
Kalivas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ang's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kalivas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ang working for a triangle but Kalivas defends it easily.
Kalivas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Ang dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Kalivas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ang tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kalivas is in Ang's guard.

Kalivas stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Kalivas drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kalivas has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ang is proving hard to escape from.
Kalivas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kalivas wants to control from the top but Ang keeps moving.
Kalivas throws and elbow that misses. Ang uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kalivas's guard. Nice move by Ang!

Ang stops Kalivas from standing up.
Kalivas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ang is one step ahead there.
Ang throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kalivas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ang throwing strikes but missing.
Kalivas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kalivas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ang's guard.
Kalivas passes Ang's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kalivas throwing shots but Ang is blocking nicely.
Kalivas trying to mount his opponent but Ang defends it.
Kalivas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ang keeps working.
Ang tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kalivas stands up from half guard.

Ang tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kalivas swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ang shoots in for a takedown but Kalivas shows good takedown defense.
Kalivas tries to bum rush Ang with a series of wild strikes but Ang uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kalivas doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ang counters with a stiff right hand.

Kalivas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ang to the mat! Ang manages to get full guard.

Kalivas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ang manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kalivas manages to get himself to full guard.
Ang prevents Kalivas from getting back to his feet.

Eugene Kalivas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Ang counters with a single leg into guard. Kalivas didn't expect that.
Ang in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ang throws a strike but Kalivas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kalivas stands and steps away. Ang gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ang closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kalivas quickly recovers to half guard.
Ang looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kalivas with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Eugene Kalivas has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ang sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kalivas defending well though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ang is thwarting Kalivas's attempts to control the position.

Kalivas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ang looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ang looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ang!

Ang is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kalivas has escaped the position, nice work there.
