Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dean Aldridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Galvao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Galvao comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Uh Papai Chego kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Dean Aldridge could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Daniel Galvao's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dean Aldridge! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Galvao! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldridge shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Aldridge showed some decent athleticism there. Aldridge working the head and body with strikes. Aldridge missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aldridge is working for a submission of some sort.
Aldridge is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Aldridge postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Galvao to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldridge misses with a combination
and Galvao counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Galvao with a lazy takedown attempt and Aldridge counters with a takedown into side control. Aldridge is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Galvao has escaped the position, nice work there. Galvao defending against the ground and pound. Galvao is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Aldridge off and has taken his back! Galvao keeps control of the position as Aldridge tries to break free.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Galvao working for the choke. Will Galvao go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Galvao working for a choke but Aldridge reverses nicely into Galvao 's guard. Aldridge has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Aldridge controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Aldridge trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Galvao manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Galvao trying to control the position from guard on top but Aldridge is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Aldridge looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Galvao puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Aldridge is pressing down on Galvao's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Aldridge keeping moving, preventing Galvao from controlling successfully. Galvao is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Aldridge keeping full guard, as Galvao tries to pass. Galvao is fighting to break Aldridge's control of his arms but Aldridge is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Daniel Galvao wasn't active enough on the ground. Aldridge drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dean Aldridge dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Aldridge looks for a takedown but Galvao sprawls well. Aldridge throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Aldridge throws a right hand that Galvao ducks under and follows up with a left that Galvao also avoids with ease. Galvao avoids the body shot from Aldridge.
Galvao moves into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aldridge drops down looking for an ankle pick but Galvao pulls his leg out and moves away.
Galvao misses with a takedown attempt and Aldridge counters by moving into the clinch. Aldridge has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Galvao avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dean Aldridge. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Aldridge tries to stall but Galvao uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Galvao jumps guard but Aldridge stands there with Galvao around his waist. Galvao gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Galvao fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Aldridge gets control of Galvao's arms and successfully pulls guard. Aldridge will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Galvao advances to half guard. Galvao trying to mount his opponent but Aldridge defends it. Galvao is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Galvao is looking to take a break and control but Aldridge is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Galvao looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Aldridge knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Galvao on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Galvao is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Aldridge has managed to free his arm - good work. Galvao uses his free foot to push down on Aldridge's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Aldridge. Galvao seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Aldridge is holding on tight.
Dean Aldridge overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Galvao working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Aldridge looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Galvao! Submission of the night perhaps?
