Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pietro Lombardi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ben Shamrock struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 207.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Pietro Lombardi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ben Shamrock! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lombardi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Shamrock counter with a right hand. Shamrock shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Shamrock was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Shamrock tries to control but Lombardi wriggling away. Lombardi holds on for dear life. Shamrock prevents Lombardi from getting the reversal. Shamrock looking to control but Lombardi is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Shamrock goes for an armbar but Lombardi turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Lombardi. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Lombardi throwing strikes from guard but Shamrock blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lombardi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Lombardi trying to control but Shamrock is working from the bottom. Lombardi scoring with punches to the head and body. Shamrock tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lombardi scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Shamrock keeping moving, preventing Lombardi from controlling successfully. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shamrock can do anything to dispel that myth. Lombardi throwing strikes from guard but Shamrock blocks nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lombardi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lombardi throwing strikes from guard but Shamrock blocks nicely. Lombardi working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Shamrock's head. Lombardi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lombardi's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Lombardi working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Shamrock's head. Shamrock looks gassed! Lombardi lands a couple of elbows. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lombardi postures up in Shamrock's guard and throws a big left but Shamrock blocks it. Lombardi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lombardi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shamrock's head. Shamrock utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Lombardi lands a couple of decent looking shots. Lombardi passes into half guard. Shamrock taking some punishment here, with Lombardi in his half guard. Lombardi works his way into full mount! Lombardi pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
It looks like Ben Shamrock has been cut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lombardi with good strikes from the mount here! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shamrock is bucking up trying to escape but Lombardi cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Shamrock takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The cut above Ben Shamrock's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ben Shamrock's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
