3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Toyama Tokanawa! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Kobashi or perhaps it was just good defense by Tokanawa which made him look bad. Kobashi bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Tokanawa! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Tokanawa is rocked!
It looks like Toyama Tokanawa has been cut. Tokanawa lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kobashi! Tokanawa is still in real trouble! Can Kobashi finish him? Tokanawa working Kobashi over with strikes here. Tokanawa seems to have recovered his senses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tokanawa blocks Kobashi's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kobashi really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Kobashi thowing shots but they're missing. Tokanawa is looking to improve his position but Kobashi isn't that keen on the idea. Tokanawa is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Kobashi breaks from Tokanawa's wrist control and lands an elbow. Kobashi scores with a couple of good head shots there.
BOOM! Kobashi connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kobashi sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Tokanawa sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Kobashi scoring with strikes to the body and head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! It looks like Kobashi is going to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kobashi connects with a nice short shot to Tokanawa's temple. Tokanawa taking some punishment here, with Kobashi in his half guard. Kobashi tries to stand and escape but Tokanawa is controlling the position. Kobashi decides to return to a standing position. Kobashi scores with a nice head shot.
That has opened up Toyama Tokanawa's cut even more. Kobashi closes the distance looking for a takedown. Tokanawa stuffs it but Kobashi still has hold of him. Kobashi picks Tokanawa up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Kobashi slams Tokanawa to the floor and that's really hurt Tokanawa - he doesn't know where he is! Kobashi throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenta Kobashi!
