The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Great throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Great misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from St Pierre.
A left lands for Great. St Pierre misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Great thows a body shot but no joy. St Pierre scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Great is looking for a sweep. St Pierre trying to control the action but Great is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Great regains half guard. Great trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

St Pierre content just to control the position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Great is squirming around, avoiding St Pierre's attempts to control the action. Great is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. St Pierre tries to control but Great wriggling away. Great slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Great is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of St Pierre's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take St Pierre's back! Great is looking for the choke from the back position but St Pierre is controlling his hands well. St Pierre covering up well under a series of strikes from Great.
