Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Vasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateus Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mateus Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Vasa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mateus Gracie! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Vasa checks it well. Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vasa to the mat! Vasa manages to get full guard. Gracie slips nicely into half guard. Gracie trying to pass the guard but Vasa defending well. Vasa is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gracie winds up and cracks Vasa with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gracie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vasa's head. Gracie is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Gracie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vasa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Gracie looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vasa doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie. Gracie throws a strike but Vasa avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vasa throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Vasa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Gracie advances to half guard. Vasa trying to hold on to Gracie's head to control him but Gracie postures up.
Vasa is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gracie trying to control from Vasa's half guard. Vasa has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Gracie missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Gracie looking to pass the guard. Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Vasa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vasa manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Vasa's guard. Gracie wants to control from the top but Vasa keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Gracie scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vasa is keeping the position for now. Vasa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gracie throwing strikes from guard but Vasa blocks nicely. Gracie works a leg free and moves into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vasa is breathing heavily. Gracie passes to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Gracie. Gracie is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Vasa is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Vasa flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Gracie anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Vasa and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Gracie slips an arm under Vasa chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Gracie has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Gracie is squeezing on Vasa like an anaconda would it's prey. Vasa fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mateus Gracie!
