PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Mockalatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason has chosen White Zombie - Electric Head Pt. 1 as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Mockalatz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Mason!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mockalatz throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Mason tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mockalatz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mockalatz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mockalatz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A left and a right from Mockalatz both land. Nice combination.
Mason tries to clinch up but Mockalatz circles away and keeps his distance.
Joe Mockalatz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mason takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Mockalatz gets a takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mockalatz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Mockalatz is looking to advance position but Mason won't allow it.
Mockalatz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mockalatz is controlling the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joe Mockalatz.

Mason gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mockalatz with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Mockalatz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mockalatz lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Mockalatz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mockalatz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mockalatz shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mason eats them both and turns towards Mockalatz to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Some wild striking there from Mockalatz.
Mockalatz throws a series of strikes that have Mason backpedaling.
Mason avoids the head kick by Mockalatz.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mason tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mockalatz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mockalatz throws a series of punches but Mason moves out of range.
Mockalatz scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A nice leg kick lands there from Mockalatz.
Mason dodges the punch combination from Mockalatz.
Mockalatz lands a head shot.
Mockalatz fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Mason takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Mason looks gassed!
Mockalatz throws a nice inside leg kick.
Mockalatz throws a head kick that misses.
Mason chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mockalatz can pounce on him.
Mockalatz lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Mockalatz moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


Mason is rocked!
Mockalatz throws a nice outside leg kick.

Mockalatz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mason's guard.
Mockalatz passes Mason's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mockalatz looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Mockalatz trying to control the pace.

Mockalatz stands up from half guard.

Mockalatz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mockalatz in side control, just content to control the action for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Mockalatz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mason chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mockalatz can pounce on him.
Mockalatz lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Mockalatz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mason gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mockalatz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mockalatz lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mockalatz feints a jab promting Mason to slip. Mockalatz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mason slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Mockalatz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Mockalatz dominated that round.
That's time! Mockalatz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mockalatz keeps Mason at a distance using the push kick.
Joe Mockalatz is winning the standup battle so far.
Mockalatz closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mason is still on wobbly legs! Can Mockalatz finish him?
Mason takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Mason seems to have recovered his senses.
Mockalatz shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mason eats them both and turns towards Mockalatz to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Mockalatz moves into range and connects with a jab.
Mockalatz misses with a head kick.
A combination from Mockalatz does no damage.
Jab from Mockalatz.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Mockalatz knocks Mason out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
